Angelo Monroy is a keyboardist, composer, educator, and arts administrator currently based in both Los Angeles, California and Reno, Nevada. Born in Hong Kong to a family of musicians, listeners will notice Angelo’s diversity of musical tastes, as he feels equally at home playing jazz, classical, and gospel as much as he does playing salsa, Irish folk music, or synth pop. Above all, he aims to help engage audiences and break down socio-cultural barriers not only through his creative output, but through his relentless pursuit of artistic and personal integrity.
Committed to bringing art to a wide variety of communities, Angelo also serves the Personnel Manager for the Reno Chamber Orchestra. Previously, he served as the Program Coordinator and Acting Program Manager at the University of Nevada, Reno’s School of the Arts from 2022 to 2024. While there, he played a large role in the production of the Performing Arts Series, Reno Jazz Festival, and Lake Tahoe Music Camp. Since 2021, Angelo has hosted a monthly concert series, Angelo's Piano Salon, which has been recognized by former First Lady Katherine Sisolak for its artistic merit.
As a result of his uniquely multifaceted career in the arts, Angelo finds himself in-demand both locally and abroad, collaborating with the individuals, groups, and organizations including Jason Joshua (of whom he is the music director for), Ralph Alessi, Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice, Butterscotch, and the Sierra Nevada Ballet, among many others.
